The Agile Project Leadership Network (APLN) is a 501(c)6 non profit
organization that is focused on making people great project leaders by
focusing on the following:
These ideas are described further in the
Declaration
of Interdependence, which was written by the
founding members of APLN
and expresses the values that the group holds with respect to leading
projects in today's chaotic world.
APLN was founded in 2004 by a group of people who are active in writing about, practicing, and evangelizing the movement towards fast, flexible, customer value driven approaches to leading projects of many types. Although this organization is separate from the Agile Alliance, our intention is to work closely with that group within the software community, but also work with people and companies outside of software and IT to help them become better leaders.

Purpose, Vision and Mission
Our past purpose, vision amd mission is reflected in our tag line:
Connecting, developing, and supporting great project leaders.
However, as we work to revitalize the APLN, we will look to see if this current vision and mission may need to be revised. As mentioned in the recent letter from our co-presidents (
click here), this ultimately will determine the future
of APLN. The board, with your input, will be working on this over the
next 6 months. One area we are considering is a vision somewhere along the lines of
"Growing Agile Enterprises" and helping organizations make that
transformation. Holding local group meetings and summits isn't enough,
we need a vision that shapes what we do and what we hope to achieve.
Our long-term mission will be a topic for discussion, but our
short-term mission is to revitalize through:
- becoming operationally
sound
- Supporting local chapters
- Conducting leadership summits
- Communicating regularly with members
- Developing a long-term vision and mission.
